The Flight I Flew

by Ian Cooke

supported by
Carsten Pieper

Carsten Pieper Quite an idiosyncratic album, let's tentatively call it progressive chamber folk. Good songs, well recorded and as bonuses we get (really good) instrumental versions of most songs and those who ask for it also get all of the above as 5.1 flac files, which offer a very nice, open soundstage!

Something else, really, and well worth your esteemed attention! Favorite track: Fourth Eye.

vykr … but always captivating. Whether in 5.1 or good old stereo, the music washes around you and fills the room, you feel involved, a part of the music rather than a disconnected listener. Favorite track: Web Of Sound.

1.
BEAM OF LIGHT Beam of light shooting down to the eye funnels in - so don't conceal it. Just because you don't know what it is doesn't mean you didn't feel it. Make a wound and then you heal it. Signals flow though the porthole at random, you know, so keep it open. Hone the skill. Channel all that you can. Focus hard as you are scoping. Keep on making. Keep on hoping. Starlight in my eye - cosmic illumination. Midnight - standing by - feeling my incarnation. Sight falls onto the foot of a hill rolling up to better spirit. Mountain calls in the wind rushing down and it howls, but never fear it. Keep on climbing when you hear it. Strength and clarity elevated - beneficial new position. Restoration of what we live in to original condition. Make a move for the transition.
2.
FEEL EVERY MOVE When you're stuck in a state 'cause you've learned that the tables have turned and you feel every move that you make is another mistake. Then you wrestle your trembles to rages to face what you find has been pulling you down in the now to abolish the ache and you're endlessly being berated - adrift in the eye of a rift, willing it to be over staring out at the mess you've created. Chasing after the orbit of light, you can keep it in sight, and you know that you're gaining velocity every night. There's a moment that's well on its way when the light of the day's gonna wrap you in song and you'll see the most beautiful sight – under care of your alien angel.

Fourth Eye 03:11
FOURTH EYE Take everything to every range. Proclaim your love. Convey more. Improvement requires change. See the future you desire and aim for it. Yet to be made advances commanding us to press on holding the rail, and as the great expanse is expanding, our kind will continue unfolding the tale. In the spiral of years to the gloried way after, if lucky enough to be chosen and choose, fear not the flow of each day getting faster. Kindle the fire that glows in your muse. Like a fourth eye above a third whose line of sight goes up into the field of scattered spheres, burning bright.
4.
HOBBY & HABIT When what would've been four laps around the sun with you landed on the midpoint of a waxing by the moon, I was losing a war - the end of which was overdue. Resolution couldn't dawn too soon. Fear brought a fog to my head and it all went awry. Sold and all in. Folded, fallen. Hobby and habit by habit and hobby I try, molding new ones, holding blue ones. Lonely wisdom was gained. Darkness teaches brutally. Thankful for the light provided by the stars and sun. When one quarter remained, resurrected jubilee. Hope survives. The war within is won.
5.
Unreasonable 03:53
UNREASONABLE I've been unreasonable - burning and freezing your soul. I let a demon in. He took the reins and rendered me despondent to the core. I fought ridiculously and thought meticulously. I've never walked away from anything so crystal-clearly meant to be before. Though we are as far apart as ever, gathering what's shattered on the floor, spirits rise, connected by a tether, reassembling all that was before. My greatest fear on this earth is having ruined my worth. I need your love for me restored to be complete and live the best life that I can. I make-believe in my bed. You're here with me in my head. You've got me on my knees. I'm begging. Please rekindle it and let me be your man.

Nine Moons 04:12
NINE MOONS Nine long and lonely moons – three hundred afternoons - lost to a flight I flew. I went the wrong direction and I didn't have a clue, but I know I'll never love anyone the way I love you. I was a fool the day I took off to navigate my way through the stars alone. I left and I had nothing. The sun refused to shine 'cause I knew I'd never want anybody but you to be mine. I'm forever grateful to see the light shining through the cloud I thought I'd never lose. I will prove the kill. Nine long and lonely moons - three hundred afternoons - lost to a flight I flew. I went the wrong direction and I didn't have a clue, but I know I'll never love anyone the way I love you.
8.
Sirens 03:16
SIRENS I’ve been focusing on my center line again, but I lose my sight and spirit now and then. I drifted off of the course that we began, but I'm trying to be a good one if I can. Sirens beckoning me away from my devotion. Voices echo through the hearts of space. Now I'm living through every season in slow motion, falling for their song with fading grace. The distance will remain, and my heart controls my brain and I'm moving like an astronaut today. Interstellar fortune teller bellowing your vision of a day when you dwell on the wing in the arms of your king. I've been focusing on my whereabouts and I find that you're lucky when you're living with your kind. Building on the life combined and grown, the greenest grass is never found alone. I'm singing back with a song to slay the sirens. This is where I beat them at their game. Carrying all the way to their environs, never will they recollect my name.
9.
TAKE YOUR TIME Temporary state of being. Shifted complications generate. Every sky a sight worth seeing. Round out well and train to acclimate. Take your time and don't give in. Keep your faith. Keep on trying to win. Take your time. Take good care of self and mind forever. Do all that you can when you're under a dark mean sky full of lightning and thunder not to blunder. Arrive. You will survive to the end. Ready all of your elements - every fraction on the track within. Feed the cells of stardust in you. Tending to the moment that is unfolding - focus-holding, let it sweep and lift and spin you.
10.
Web Of Sound 02:52
WEB OF SOUND Web of sound waves woven through constellations. Threads are bound. Unlimited destinations. Life is found - our ebb to their ground, unwoven, and threads are unwound, decoded, and understood. The sentiment stands for good. We'd fathom the flow if we could. We would with strides of headway, spiraling into the heavens of what is booming, made with love: a live web of sound.
11.
Wake 04:16
WAKE I may not save this, but at least I will have tried, and now I wake with a universe of agony inside. I cannot take all your anguish or the fact that I abandoned you away. I can't erase it, but I was wrong, and now I'm here to stay. I can't bear the thought of the number of days you woke up to the infinite depth of the abyss, and the number of nights you must not have slept at all. I may not shake this, but at least I will have learned from my mistake, and I'm praying that your love can be re-earned. Now I wait for you, wishing more than anything that I could turn back time, demanding fate to return you, 'cause I need to call you mine again. For all the rest of the days I'm alive, you'll wake up to the infinite ocean of my love – to my unwavering care. I'll lift you up to cloud nine. I may not save this, but I'm really gonna try – 'cause when I wake up next to you, I feel like I can fly. Your embrace is euphoric and does not compare to any other high. Yours is the face I know I'm gonna picture when I die, my love.
12.
RETURN TO YOU On the ground where we may tread, I will always want to hold your hand. Through all the days that lie ahead of us, by you I will always stand. I'm forever grateful to see the light shining through the cloud I thought I'd never lose. Now I return to you. Breathe and feel the flow and ebb – rolling with the current of woven sound waves in a web made to cradle life and love.
